My mother's family was there before the whole incident became known and famous . They worked in the town for awhile and became familiar with the town folk. Soon after, they were let in on the dark secret of the land. The locals told my grandfather about the infamous doings of a certain family. They also told not to worry, the family ate only outsiders like hippies and such. Grandfather told the family that not eat anything they offer And also no to go to their “BBQ cookouts”. My mother became friends with some the members and encounter the real leather face. He was badly deformed and also very shy. When the whole thing was exposed, leather face grabs a female relative and escaped arrest. Later, it was discovered that the police found a car that matched a relative of my grand uncle Ray. Ray stated that his cousin would never leave his favorite car. His cousin and family were coming to visit him and never arrived. They never was seen again.
